The Bosphorus Strait
Istanbul Strait, which is located between the continents of Asia and Europe called the “Bosporus Straits”, the length of the Strait is 32 Kilometers, and the narrowest area in Bosporus is 660 kilometers, and the wider area is about 3.3 kilometers in Buyukdere area. The depth varies between 50 meters to 120 meters, moving water from top speeds of 4.3 kilometers per hour, from north to south.
There are two ways for a tour of Bosphorus Strait and watch the beautiful its banks, either by car or by boats who offer that tours.
The Ferryboat, which is touring The Bosphorus Strait start moving from the “Eminonu” area and pass on the marine terminals on both sides of the Strait, and then go to the end of the Strait and back to the same station which started from. Thus, the riders enjoy watching scenes palaces, Saraya, wooden villas and chalets that adorn the two sides of the Strait.
The tourists spends enjoyable day watching the scenery palaces of Dolmabahce, Ciragan and fortress of Rumeli and Anatolia, there is also a traditional-style ships stations and fish restaurants that fill the shores of Bosphorus Strait.
There are two suspension bridges that connecting the two shores of Bosphorus Strait, the first bridge was established in 1973 and the second in 1988.
