The statistics for real estate sales in 2021 have been released. In 2021, the number of residential sales was 1.491.856. There was a 0.5% reduction in sales compared to 2020. Istanbul led the way with 276.223 sales and an 18.5% market share. Ankara came in second with 144.104 sales and a 9.7 percent market share. Izmir came in second, with 86.722 sales and a 5.8 percent market share. The regions with the lowest sales rates were Hakkari (267 sales), Ardahan (377 sales), and Bayburt (871 sales).

With a total of 26.469 properties sold to foreigners, Istanbul was the market leader. Antalya accompanied Istanbul with 12.384 sales and Ankara followed the others with 3.672 sales.

In 2021, Iran citizens bought 10.056 houses from Turkey. Iraq citizens followed Iran with 8.661 house sales and Russian Federation citizens followed Iraq with 5.379 house sales.

In 2021, women bought 506.495 houses and men bought 819.730 houses

In 2021, women bought 506.495 houses with a share of 34.0%, men bought 819.730 houses with a share of 54.9%, and 28.900 houses were bought jointly by women and men with a share of 1.9% across Turkey.

In Istanbul, which is the city with the highest share in the total housing sales across Turkey in 2021; women bought 83.226 houses, men bought 142.120 houses, and women and men jointly bought 6.962 houses.
