Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) has stated that the acceptance of international students in the Turkish Scholarship Program 2019 continues in 86 countries.
In a statement issued by the YTB, it explained that about 10,000 foreign students were competing for further education in various Turkish universities through interviews conducted by academics and YTB chairmen. The statement also showed that the number of applicants for the Turkish scholarship program this year reached 147,000 from 167 countries.
Currently, 17,500 students from around the world benefit from the scholarship program and continue their education at Turkish universities.
The Turkish Scholarship Program is offered through the YTB website on certain dates of the year, after which the names of students who meet the admission requirements are announced. After the successful interview with the above mentioned experts, the names of the admissions will be announced. The scholarship students will then receive a Turkish language course in the first year, after which they will begin their studies in the selected sections.
The Turkish Scholarship Program offers scholarships to about 5,000 students from all over the world to help them pursue their undergraduate studies as well as their masters and doctorates at Turkish universities. In 2018, 138,000 foreign students from 164 countries are offered to the Turkish scholarship program.
YTB reimburses the expenses of international students related to university, housing, health insurance, as well as tickets to and from Turkey in addition to the material grant.
One of the aims of the Turkish Scholarship Program is to establish a network of future leaders who promise to strengthen cooperation between countries and mutual understanding among communities.
Abdullah Eren, President of the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB), had predicted a record turnout in Turkey’s foreign scholarship program. Where Eren called young foreigners from all countries of the world to register in the Turkish scholarships at various stages of university, and take advantage of the features they provide.
According to Eren, the program has many opportunities, including monthly grants for students of 700 TL (130 $) at the bachelor’s level, 900 TL (170 $) for the master, and 1400 TL (260 $) for the doctorate.
He also mentioned that there are many universities that offer good education in Turkish and English, and that there are many foreign students who follow these universities.
It is worth mentioning that the Turkish Scholarship Program was launched in 2012 and the number of applicants then 42 thousand students, and in 2018 has increased to 136 thousand. This year it has reached a record 145,700 applications from 167 countries around the world.
There are 17,500 foreign students from 160 countries around the world who are benefiting from the scholarship program and are continuing their education at Turkish universities. The goal is to increase the number of international students in the Turkish scholarship program from 17,000 now to 25,000 in 2023.
